Key term
What happens during prophase of mitosis?
Key term
Do all cells in a multicellular organism retain the ability to divide?
Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
Do all cells in a multicellular organism retain the ability to divide?
Model answer
No, not all cells retain the ability to divide.
- 2
What do eukaryotic cells that retain the ability to divide exhibit?
Model answer
They show a cell cycle.
- 3
During which phase of the cell cycle does DNA replication occur?
Model answer
Interphase.
- 4
Define mitosis.
Model answer
Mitosis is the part of the cell cycle in which a eukaryotic cell divides to produce two daughter cells.
- 5
How does the DNA in daughter cells compare to that of the parent cell after mitosis?
Model answer
Each daughter cell has identical copies of DNA to the parent cell.
- 6
How do daughter cells come to possess identical DNA to the parent cell?
Model answer
The identical DNA was produced by the parent cell during DNA replication before mitosis.
