Information processing is how a performer takes in information, makes a decision and carries out a movement. The basic information processing model has four stages.
- 2
Name the four stages of the basic information processing model, in order.

Model answer
Input, decision making and output sit in three boxes joined by arrows in that order. A feedback box follows output, with an arrow looping back to input.

Model answer
The performer gathers information from the display using the senses. Sight, hearing, touch and balance all provide input.

What is the display in sport?
Model answer
The display is everything in the sporting environment that the performer can sense. A footballer's display includes the ball, teammates, opponents and the crowd.
