Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.

The transfer of money, goods, skills or cheap loans from richer countries or organisations to poorer ones to support their development.
- 2
What is bilateral aid?
Model answer
Aid given directly by the government of one country to the government of another, often with conditions attached.
- 3
What is multilateral aid?

Emergency aid supplies food, shelter and medicine straight after a disaster, while long-term aid funds lasting things such as schools, water supplies and training.
- 6
Give two criticisms often made of international aid.
Model answer
It can make a country dependent on donors, and money can be lost to corruption or spent on projects that suit the donor more than the poorest people.
