- 2
Does a not-for-profit organisation try to avoid making a surplus?
Model answer
No, it aims to generate a surplus so that it can fund more of its work, but the surplus stays within the organisation rather than being paid out to shareholders.

A social enterprise is a business that trades commercially with the primary purpose of achieving a social or environmental mission, and reinvests most of its profit into that mission.
