Model answer
If it sells on long credit terms, holds too much stock or spends heavily on fixed assets, the cash leaves the business before the profit is collected.

Why can a business make a loss and still hold a healthy cash balance?
Model answer
Depreciation and other non-cash charges reduce profit without reducing cash, and money can be raised by borrowing, selling assets or collecting overdue debts.
