Questions from this topic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
Define ecologism.
Model answer
Ecologism is the ideology which holds that human beings are one part of a wider natural whole, and that society and its economy must be reshaped to live within the limits nature sets.
- 2
What is the difference between environmentalism and ecologism?
Model answer
Environmentalism seeks to protect nature through reforms that leave existing values and institutions intact, whereas ecologism demands a fundamental change in how human beings understand their place in nature.
- 3
Define anthropocentrism.
Model answer
Anthropocentrism is the assumption that human beings are the centre of moral concern and that nature has value only in so far as it is useful to people.
- 4
What is ecocentrism?
