Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is a sedentary lifestyle?
Model answer
A sedentary lifestyle involves little or no physical activity. A sedentary person spends most of the day sitting or lying down.
- 2
What does overweight mean?
Model answer
Overweight means having weight in excess of the normal for one's height and build. A muscular rugby player can be overweight without being overfat.
- 3
What does overfat mean?
Model answer
Overfat means having more body fat than is healthy. Excess body fat raises the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
- 4
What does obese mean?
Model answer
Obese describes a person who is extremely overfat. Obesity is usually defined as a body mass index of 30 or more.
- 5
How does a sedentary lifestyle increase the risk of coronary heart disease?
Model answer
Inactivity is linked to fatty deposits building up in the coronary arteries. Narrowed coronary arteries restrict blood flow to the heart muscle.
- 6
How is inactivity linked to high blood pressure?
Model answer
The heart and blood vessels of an inactive person work less efficiently. Excess weight raises resting blood pressure and puts strain on the heart.
