Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is a questionnaire?
Model answer
A questionnaire is a set of written questions answered by respondents, on paper or online. A questionnaire can reach many people at low cost.
- 2
Give two advantages of questionnaires in business research.
Model answer
Questionnaires reach large numbers quickly and cheaply. Closed questions give numerical data that is easy to analyse.

Model answer
Response rates can be low. Respondents cannot ask for clarification, so questions may be misunderstood.
- 4
What is the difference between open and closed questions?
Model answer
A closed question offers fixed answers, such as yes or no or a rating scale. An open question lets respondents answer freely in their own words.
- 5
What is a Likert scale?
Model answer
A Likert scale asks respondents how far they agree with a statement, usually on five points from strongly agree to strongly disagree. Likert scales measure attitudes in a form that can be counted.
- 6
What makes a good questionnaire question?
Model answer
A good question is short, clear and asks about one thing only. A good question avoids jargon and does not lead the respondent.
