Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is the action planning phase?
Model answer
Action planning is the phase in which solutions to the diagnosed problem are developed and chosen. A detailed plan for putting the solution into practice is then drawn up.
- 2
Why does a consultant develop several alternative solutions?
Model answer
Comparing options shows which solution best fits the client's needs, budget and culture. The client can see why the recommended option was chosen.
- 3
What criteria are used to evaluate alternative solutions?
Model answer
Options are judged on cost, benefits, risk, time and how well they fit the client's resources. Staff acceptance is also an important test.
- 4
Why should the client take part in action planning?
Model answer
The client knows its business and staff better than the consultant does. Clients who help design a solution are more committed to making it work.
- 5
What does an implementation plan contain?
Model answer
An implementation plan sets out the tasks, timetable, responsibilities, resources and costs. The plan also sets targets to measure success.
- 6
Why are measurable targets set during action planning?
Model answer
Measurable targets allow progress to be tracked during implementation. Targets also show at termination whether the assignment succeeded.
