Questions from this topic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
Why must a project be reviewed at specific points during execution?
Model answer
Regular reviews compare actual progress with the plan while there is still time to act. Small problems are caught before they threaten the whole project.
- 2
Name the areas a project review should consider.
Model answer
A review compares time, cost and quality with the plan. The review also covers objectives, change, risks, issues, communications and whether the client accepts the deliverables.
- 3
How is progress on time reviewed?
Model answer
Completed tasks and milestones are compared with the dates in the schedule. The review forecasts whether the project will still finish within its time tolerance.
- 4
How is progress on cost reviewed?
Model answer
Actual spending is compared with the budget for the work completed so far. The review forecasts the final cost against the cost tolerance.
- 5
A project has spent £42,000 by the halfway point of a £70,000 budget. Is it on track?
Model answer
The project is £7,000 over its halfway budget and likely to overspend. The working is £70,000 ÷ 2 = £35,000, then £42,000 − £35,000 = £7,000.
- 6
How is quality reviewed during execution?
Model answer
Deliverables are checked against the targets in the quality plan. Faults found early are cheaper to correct than faults found at handover.
