Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is the implementation phase?
Model answer
Implementation is the phase in which the agreed action plan is put into practice. The client's staff usually carry out the changes, with the consultant's support.
- 2
How can a consultant's role vary during implementation?
Model answer
A consultant may simply advise while the client's staff make the changes. A consultant can also manage the change directly, which costs the client more.
- 3
Why do many clients carry out implementation themselves?
Model answer
Implementation by the client's own staff is cheaper and builds their skills. Staff are also more likely to own the change.
- 4
Why is training often part of implementation?
Model answer
Staff need new skills to work with new systems or procedures. Staff training makes the change last after the consultant leaves.
- 5
Why must progress be monitored during implementation?
Model answer
Monitoring shows whether targets and deadlines are being met. Problems can be corrected before they derail the plan.
- 6
Why might an action plan need to change during implementation?
Model answer
New problems, costs or events can appear that were not foreseen. A flexible consultant adjusts the plan with the client's agreement.
