- 1
What is a global brand?
Model answer
A global brand is one recognised and sold under the same name across many countries. Consistent identity allows worldwide marketing and builds recognition wherever the buyer travels.
- 2
Give three advantages of a global brand.
Model answer
A single identity spreads marketing costs across many markets. Recognition reduces the risk a consumer feels when buying abroad. Global scale also strengthens bargaining power with suppliers.
- 3
Give two risks of operating a global brand.
Model answer
Damage to the brand in one country can spread to every market at once. A single identity may also fit some cultures poorly and require costly adaptation.
- 4
What is organic growth?
Model answer
Organic growth is expansion generated from within the business, by increasing sales and capacity. Growth is slower but the business retains full control.
- 5
What is external growth?
Model answer
External growth is expansion by joining with or acquiring another business. Growth is faster than organic expansion but usually costs more and carries integration risk.
- 6
What is a merger?
Model answer
A merger is two businesses combining to form a single new company. Both sets of owners agree to the combination.
