Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
Define aggregate demand.
Model answer
Aggregate demand is the total planned spending on an economy's goods and services at a given price level. The measure covers a stated period, usually a year.
- 2
State the aggregate demand equation.
Model answer
Aggregate demand equals C + I + G + (X − M). The letters stand for consumption, investment, government spending and net exports.
- 3

Model answer
Consumption is spending by households on goods and services. Durable goods, non-durable goods and services are all included.
- 4

Model answer
Investment is spending by firms and government on capital goods that will produce future output. Additions to stocks of unsold goods are also counted.
- 5

Gross investment is total spending on capital goods in a period. Net investment is gross investment minus depreciation of the existing capital stock.
