  1. 1

What does Surah 4:103 teach about prayer?

    Model answer

Surah 4:103 says prayer has been prescribed for believers at fixed times. Muslims should also remember Allah standing, sitting or lying down.

  2. 2

What are the five daily prayers?

    Model answer

The five prayers are Fajr at dawn, Zuhr at midday, Asr in the afternoon, Maghrib at sunset and Isha at night. Each prayer has a set time window.

  3. 3

What is wudu and why does it matter?

    Model answer

Wudu is the ritual washing before prayer, commanded in Surah 5:6. Wudu cleans the body and prepares the heart to stand before Allah.

  4. 4

What are the steps of wudu?

    Model answer

A Muslim washes the hands, rinses the mouth and nose, and washes the face and arms to the elbows. The head is wiped, then the ears, and finally the feet are washed.

  5. 5

How does Shi'a wudu differ from Sunni wudu?

    Model answer

Shi'a Muslims wipe the top of the feet with wet hands rather than washing them. Shi'a Muslims also wash the arms from the elbow down towards the fingers.

  6. 6

Why are physical and spiritual cleanliness both important to Muslims?

    Model answer

A hadith says purity is half of faith. Muslims believe a clean body should be matched by a heart cleansed of pride and sin.
