Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What does it mean that G-d is all-powerful, and why does it matter to Jews?
Model answer
G-d is omnipotent and can do anything consistent with the divine nature. Jews trust that G-d can fulfil every promise made to them.
- 2
Why is the belief that G-d is all-good significant for Jews?
Model answer
G-d is perfectly good and the source of all goodness. The Torah's laws can therefore be trusted as good for humanity.
- 3
What does it mean that G-d is all-knowing?
Model answer
G-d is omniscient, knowing all things, including people's thoughts and the future. Jews believe no action is hidden from G-d.
- 4
How does the belief that G-d is everywhere affect Jewish life?
Model answer
G-d is omnipresent, so G-d can be worshipped anywhere, not only in the Temple. Jews believe they are always in G-d's presence.
- 5
What does it mean that G-d is beyond time and space?
Model answer
G-d is not part of the physical universe and is not limited by it. Human language can only partly describe G-d.
- 6
Why do Jews believe G-d is concerned with humanity?
Model answer
G-d made humans in the divine image and made covenants with them. G-d cares how people treat one another.
