What is a pressure group?

Wealthy and well-connected groups enjoy far more access than others, and a determined minority may secure a change that most of the public does not support.

Sustained press and broadcast campaigns put an issue on the political agenda and generate public pressure for a response, though they may also produce hasty legislation passed mainly to reassure opinion.
