How many services are held each weekday in Judaism?
Model answer
Three services are held daily: Shacharit, Minchah and Ma'ariv. A fourth service, Musaf, is added on Shabbat and festivals.

What is a siddur?
Model answer
A siddur is the Jewish prayer book. The order of daily and Shabbat prayers is set out in it.

Fixed prayer binds the community together and keeps God in mind every day. Prayer with a minyan is considered stronger than praying alone.

The Amidah is the central prayer of every Jewish service. Jews call it the standing prayer because worshippers stand to say it.

How many blessings does the weekday Amidah contain?
Model answer
The weekday Amidah has nineteen blessings. The older name Shemoneh Esrei means eighteen, from the number it once had.
- 6
How is the Amidah structured?
Model answer
Three opening blessings praise God, and thirteen middle blessings make requests. Three closing blessings give thanks.
