Drawing up and justifying the plan
- 3 things to know
- A2 4
Overview
What a plan must contain and why every element is justified rather than merely stated, how implementation and responsibilities are set out, the resources and timescale, and the contingency for when something goes wrong.
What you need to know
Answer each one before you reveal it.
How does the plan connect to the evaluation?
What is a risk assessment in the context of an activity?
Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What must a health promotion plan contain?
Model answer
A plan states the topic and why it was chosen, the aim and objectives, the approach and why it suits the audience, how the activity will be implemented and who will do what, the target group and why, the methods and materials, the resources required, and the timescale.
- 2
Why must every element of a plan be justified rather than only stated?
Model answer
A justification shows the choice was reasoned rather than convenient, lets somebody else judge whether it was sound, and gives the evaluation something to test the activity against.
- 3
How is the choice of approach justified in a plan?
Model answer
By naming the approach, explaining what it assumes about the audience, showing that the assumption holds for this group, and saying why the alternatives were less suitable for this topic and this audience.
- 4
Why is planning who does what part of the plan rather than a detail?
Model answer
An unassigned task is assumed by everybody to belong to somebody else, so naming a person and a date is what turns a list of intentions into work that actually happens.
- 5
What should the implementation section describe?
Model answer
The implementation section describes what will happen on the day in order: setting up, how the group will be introduced to the topic, each activity in sequence with its timing, how questions will be handled, and how the session will close.
- 6
Why should a plan include a contingency?
Model answer
Equipment fails, a room changes, fewer people arrive than expected, or a session overruns, so a plan that has thought about what to do in each case survives the day rather than collapsing.
