Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is a health promotion campaign?
Model answer
A health promotion campaign is a planned, time-limited effort to change what a defined population knows, believes or does about a health issue, using chosen methods and materials and measured against stated objectives.
- 2
What does the Public Health Agency do in relation to campaigns?
Model answer
The Public Health Agency identifies the priority issues from data, commissions and runs campaigns across Northern Ireland, works with Trusts, councils and voluntary organisations to deliver them locally, and evaluates their effect.
- 3
On what kinds of issue does the Public Health Agency campaign?
Model answer
Campaign topics have included smoking cessation, alcohol and drug harm, mental health and suicide prevention, immunisation and screening uptake, obesity and physical activity, sexual health, and seasonal issues such as flu vaccination and winter health.
- 4
What is a campaign objective, and how does it differ from an aim?
Model answer
The aim is the broad change wanted, such as reducing smoking in young adults. An objective is a specific, measurable step towards it, such as increasing calls to a stop-smoking line by a stated proportion within three months.
- 5
What makes an objective usable?
Model answer
A usable objective states exactly what will change, in whom, by how much and by when, so that it can be measured afterwards and the campaign judged against it rather than against an impression.
- 6
Name six methods a campaign might use to reach its audience.
Model answer
Television, radio and cinema advertising; posters and billboards; leaflets and information packs; social media and video content; a website and a telephone helpline; and face-to-face work through community events, schools, workplaces and pharmacies.
