Questions from this subtopic

Each one with the model answer underneath.

  1. 1

    What is acceptance testing?

    Model answer

Acceptance testing is testing carried out by or on behalf of the client, to decide whether the delivered system meets the agreed requirements and can be accepted.

  2. 2

Who decides whether a system passes acceptance testing?

    Model answer

The client decides, because acceptance testing exists to establish whether the organisation that commissioned the system is willing to take delivery of it.

  3. 3

How does acceptance testing differ from system testing in purpose?

    Model answer

System testing asks whether the software works as specified, while acceptance testing asks whether the client will take and pay for what has been delivered.

  4. 4

    What is user acceptance testing?

    Model answer

User acceptance testing has the staff who will operate the system work through their normal tasks on it, to confirm that it supports the way they actually work.

  5. 5

Why is acceptance testing carried out with the client's own data?

    Model answer

The client's own records contain the real range of cases and quantities, so testing with them shows whether the system copes with the organisation's actual work.

  6. 6

Where is acceptance testing normally carried out?

    Model answer

Acceptance testing is normally carried out on the client's own premises, on the hardware and network the system will really run on.
