- 3 things to know
- A2 Unit 2
Overview
What is meant by the outputs of a solution, grouping in a report and exception report.
What you need to know
Answer each one before you reveal it.
Which questions must be answered before a report is designed?
What does a report design specify?
Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
Explain what is meant by the outputs of a solution.
Model answer
Outputs are everything the solution produces for a person to read, including screen displays, printed reports and exported files.
- 2
Which questions must be answered before a report is designed?
Model answer
The designer must know who reads the report, what decision it supports, how often it is produced and whether it is printed or viewed.
- 3
What does a report design specify?
Model answer
A report design specifies the title, the fields shown, the order of the records, the grouping, the totals and the page layout.
- 4
Why does a report design state the sort order of the records?
Model answer
A report is read to find something, and the order decides how quickly the reader finds it.
- 5
Define grouping in a report.
Model answer
Grouping gathers records sharing a value, such as all orders for one customer, under a heading for that value.
- 6
Why does a grouped report usually carry subtotals?
Model answer
A subtotal at the end of each group answers the very question the grouping was created to ask.
Other ways to work this
The same content, four other ways.
What is inside Levo
Six ways to work the same material.
Every question in Defining Requirements and Documenting the Design, on a schedule.
Attempt a question from memory, write the correct version, then attempt it again. Levo records the jump between your first attempt and your last, and brings each question back on the day you are due to forget it.
