Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is a menu bar?
Model answer
A menu bar is the row of headings across the top of a form, and each heading opens a list of commands when clicked.
- 2
What is a drop-down menu?
Model answer
A drop-down menu is the list of entries appearing below a heading on the menu bar, and each entry runs a command when chosen.
- 3
What is a submenu?
Model answer
A submenu is a further list opening from a menu entry, and a submenu groups related commands without lengthening the parent list.
- 4
What is a context menu?
Model answer
A context menu is the short list appearing at the pointer on a right click, and the commands offered depend on what was clicked.
- 5
What event does a menu entry raise?
Model answer
A menu entry raises the same kind of action event a button raises, so one handler serves both routes into the command.
- 6
Why are menu entries divided by separator lines?
Model answer
A separator divides commands into related sets, so the eye finds the wanted command faster and destructive commands sit away from routine ones.
