Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is a form in an event driven application?
Model answer
A form is a window that holds and positions the controls making up one screen of an application.
- 2
Name five properties a form typically has.
Model answer
A form typically has a title, a size in pixels, a position on screen, a background colour and a border style.
- 3
What is the difference between a form's title and its name?
Model answer
The title is the text shown in the window bar and is read by the user, while the name identifies the form in code and is never displayed.
- 4
What does the visible property of a form control?
Model answer
The visible property decides whether the form is drawn on screen. A form built with visible set to false exists in memory and shows nothing.
- 5
A form has its resizable property set to false. What can the user no longer do?
Model answer
The user can no longer drag the form's edges or maximise the window, so the layout stays at the size the designer chose.
- 6
Why would a developer set a minimum size on a form rather than fix the size outright?
Model answer
A minimum size lets a user enlarge the window for comfort while preventing the window shrinking so far that controls overlap or disappear.
