Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is religious freedom?
Model answer
Religious freedom is the right to believe, practise and change one's religion, or to have none. Muslims in the UK enjoy the freedom to worship openly.
- 2
What does Surah 2:256 teach about religious freedom?
Model answer
Surah 2:256 says there is no compulsion in religion, because truth stands clear from error. Faith must be freely chosen to be real.
- 3
What does Surah 2:255 (Ayat al-Kursi) teach about Allah?
Model answer
Ayat al-Kursi describes Allah as the Ever-Living, who never sleeps and whose throne covers the heavens and earth. Allah knows everything and needs no helper.
- 4
What does Surah 2:257 teach?
Model answer
Surah 2:257 says Allah is the protector of believers, bringing them from darkness into light. Unbelievers follow false guides who lead them into darkness.
- 5
What does Surah 109:6 teach about other religions?
Model answer
Surah 109:6 says, 'To you your religion, and to me mine'. Many Muslims read it as accepting that others follow different faiths.
- 6
How do Muslims differ in response to a multi-faith society?
Model answer
Some Muslims believe Islam alone is true and non-Muslims should be invited to it. Others stress that Jews and Christians, as People of the Book, can also please Allah (Surah 2:62).
