Questions from this subtopic
Each one with the model answer underneath.
- 1
What is racial discrimination, and why do Muslims oppose it?
Model answer
Racial discrimination is treating people unfairly because of their race or ethnicity. Muslims oppose it because Allah created every race.
- 2
What does Surah 49:13 teach about why Allah created different peoples?
Model answer
Surah 49:13 says Allah made humanity into peoples and tribes so that they may know one another. Differences of race are meant for recognition, not division.
- 3
What problems does racial discrimination cause in society?
Model answer
Racial discrimination causes unequal chances in jobs, housing and justice. Racial discrimination also breeds anger, division and violence.
- 4
Who was Malcolm X?
Model answer
Malcolm X (1925–1965) was an African American Muslim leader and civil rights campaigner. Malcolm was born Malcolm Little and joined the Nation of Islam in prison.
- 5

The Nation of Islam taught black pride and separation from white people, whom it called devils. Most Muslims reject these teachings as contrary to Islam.

Malcolm X became the Nation's best-known spokesman in the 1950s, attacking white racism fiercely. Malcolm rejected Martin Luther King's aims of integration and non-violence.
